Vibration analysis is widely used in the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis ofthe gears and rolling element bearings. The vibration theory of the gears and rolling element bearings has been researched inthis thesis. The modulation of vibration signals is the decisive signature in thevibration signals of the gears and rolling element bearings with local faults. Then theprocedure of vibration test is introduced. And all kinds of equipments used in the testare introduced too. Moreover, the conventional time-frequency analyses have beenexpounded. The test rigs of the gears and rolling element bearings are built. And the software,HSGD3000, having been compiled, is used to detect the faults of gears and rollingelement bearings. The period segmentation method which is based upon single gear tooth analysis is fitfor diagnosing gear pairs faults. Further more;the location of the failed gear tooth canbe identified in term of the position of the segment which is different from normalsegments. Both numerical simulated signal and experimental vibration signals measured fromthe gears and rolling element bearings verify that time-delayed correlationdemodulation is better than conventional methods, such as spectrum analysis andenvelope analysis. In this paper, the time-delayed size of the time-delayed correlation demodulation isinvestigated. Different time-delayed sizes have been analyzed, and their results arealmost same. Therefore, the time-delayed size can be selected freely in one revolution.
