The security analysis is one of most important part in EMS, and it is also an important means to ensure the system run safety. This paper proposes methods improve on contingency ranking and security corrective.In order to make the contingency ranking more reasonable, this paper take the indeterminacy feature of the power element contingencies into consideration., the system performance index is combined with the system state probability such that the expected influences of contingencies on system operation can be obtained. At the same time, mend the traditional performance index, so can avoid the serious contingency is screened.After the contingencies ranking, we need to advance the security corrective measures for the harmful contingencies. An algorithm of corrective control is presented to deal with overload of transmission lines in system. This algorithm integrates Equal and Opposite Adjustment in Pairs Method(EOAPM) with Interior Point Method(IPM). EOAPM, based on sensitivity, refers to only a few adjusting devices. However, it's hard to consider all constraints. IPM can deal with all constraints simultaneously, but it refers to too many adjusting devices. The corrective control algorithm proposed in this makes full use of both methods' advantages. Not only all constraints can be considered, but also only a few adjusting devices are concerned.
