A velocity measurement system of high-velocity Rocket-Propelled-Sled based on IRIG-B code is introduced in this paper. The system is designed to measure time, position, velocity and acceleration etc. of high-speed mobile precisely and process measurement result automatically. Aiming for the present problems of the velocity measurement system in the Rocket-Propelled-Sled proving ground and combining the present development status of test apparatus, we expound a scheme to measure the velocity of the pulley. The scheme uses computer as core and works on the basis of combination of software and hardware. In this scheme, velocity measurement is changed as time measurement according to the definition of velocity in physics. In order to keep time synchronization between velocity measurement system and other parts of the proving ground and ensure measurement precision, international common format time code—IRIG-B is employed as time benchmark. The main research of this paper can concluded as follows: 1. Aiming for resistance existing in wire, a scheme is introduced to design multiple Resistance-Net. 2. Allowing for the movement situation of the pulley and the laying-out situation of resistance, a workable circuit is designed to check and modulate signal. 3. Utilizing timer trigger A/D conversation and interrupt data transmission with FIFO on-board of the data sampling card, making use of multi thread programming technique, high-speed continuous real-time data sampling and transmission is achieved. 4. The velocity and acceleration parameter which is obtained through "even method"is processed using spline interpolant and curve fit so that the charateristical curves of the pulley are portrayed smoothly. In addition, precision is improved when assaying curves. 5. In order to achieve the automation of data processing, the pulley's movement curves of are painted through TCanvas class; OLE technology is employed to operate Excel2000 to make data sheet; the Printer() function is used to print curves. In addition, any dot's corresponding parameters can be showed in curves and the voltage pulse is displayed in the course of the pulley's movement. Experiments in the proving ground indicates that this system can measure the pulley's velocity precisely. On the side, the system's fabric and manipulation is simple.
