Computer-supported product design process management is the trend for enterprises to realize the informational managing with the gradual development and the interpromotion of the computer technology, internet technology and advanced manufacturing technology. The characteristics of product design process are hierarchical, iterative and collaborative, so how to program and manage the design process properly are the key problems to to improve the design efficiency, enhance the creative ability and to respond the rapid market requirement. Consequently, it is an essential and necessary task to research the design process management through analyzing the factors in the design process.The thesis studies two aspects with both academic and implementation areas in product design process management, especially from the issues of task decomposition, task priority selection and the prototyping system development. The main research work is extending as follows:(l)Summarizing the research conditions and theoretical methods, the paper mainly analyzes the characteristics and managing factors in design process and models the abstract conception of the "task objects" in details.(2)Aimed at the lack of method to task granularity design, a cohesion metric model is set up to analyze the relationship of task cohesion and coupling. The model provides a new quantitative analysis method combining with the qualitative analysis to design and partition the task granularity through studing the information constration between activities.(3)The notation of heuristic sequential priority sequence is given according to the existed confliction in the task scheduling with single priority. Ordering the importance of task attributes which are relative to the total performance of the scheduling system using analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method, and a sequential priority dynamic scheduling algorithm based on task attributes is presented finally.(4)The proposed task-based process management ideas are applied into the prototype system design using a certain type of machine tool design as example. The paper develops a Web-based task management system for product design, and realizes parts of the functions of the system preliminary at last.
