Automated Highway System (AHS) is the high level system of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The research of AHS is becoming more and more hot field. The research of vehicle automatic navigation and control is developed in some academic institution. The results of research are affected by time, space, money and so on, and the results usually aren't ideal. Some research institution use computer technology, control technology, acoustics and graphics technology to simulate automated driving and road environment, thus can reduce manpower, material resources and time. We can do some research on the simulator, and the process and results are direct and vivid.The research state and significance of AHS, simulator and scene of simulator are recommended. This dissertation introduces the simulator studying by ITS Center in Wuhan University of Technology, and mention the important part of thesimulator——scene simulation. The foundation and optimizing technology of scenesimulation in real-time simulation system are analyzed. 3D-modelingsoftware——Creator and real-time simulation software——Vega are used as thedeveloping tool of real-time simulation. The functions of these software and key technology are analyzed. The methods of traffic simulation used in scene simulation and bump testing technology used in lane keeping system are studied.Through above-mentioned research, the work of this dissertation is focus on these as follows:(1) Several virtual scenes are built up, such as urban transport scene,experimental ground and high way. These scenes include roads, traffic signs, buildings and so on.(2) An automated driving simulator is developed by our reserch group. Theelements and hardware implementation are analyzed.(3) The scene simulation system are developed using real-time simulationsoftware——Vega and other programming language——Visual C++6.0.(4) The vehicle's motion is realized based on auto dynamic model and kinematicmodel. This dissertation utilize traffic simulation to scene simulation to control vehicles in the scene.(5) The lane keeping system is developed using bump testing technology. Themethod of bump testing include intersection of Vega and user-defined function.
