The Construction And Development Of City Sculpture

City sculptures which represent sculptors' understandings and pursuit towards life, moreover reflect the cultural and spiritual styles of the city. It serves its beauty both in shape and content to enrich both city environment and human mind. Therefore, good sculptures are always praised as "concretionary music" and "tridimensional paintings". In the recent years, city construction and image building has become one of the key signs of city development. And city sculptures constitute an indispensable part in city construction. Researches on the relationships between city sculptures and city construction are increasingly carried out in various cities, which settles solid foundations for its construction and theoretical study.The research mainly adopted methods combining literature consulting, social interview, questionnaire and on-the-spot investigation. Literatures consulted, development histories and research actualities of both domestic and oversea city sculptures are studied. Hangzhou city sculptures are the main studying subject in the research. Both sculpture builders and audiences are interviewed, and typical samples in different locations are investigated on the spot. The analysis of Hangzhou city sculpture's constructional actualities is divided into four parts: sculpture itself, relationship between sculpture and space, evaluation and management. In general, the sculpture construction in Hangzhou is relatively lagged behind comparing to shanghai, Qingdao and Beijing. There is still much to go for Hangzhou city sculpture development.On the base of the analysis of Hangzhou city sculptures' development factors, in allusion to each city communal space style , representative sample is picked out to be judged, and reasonable suggestions on constructing will be given out. The aim orientation , principle, theme machinating, space layout programming of the city sculpture development is explored ,and several suggestions will be given out to enhance the development of Hangzhou city sculpture. Hoping that the research on the Hangzhou city sculpture construction will promote the development of the city sculptures henceforth.
