The Trade-off Studies Between Virtual Space And Realistic Space

The 21st century is a time of informatization and digitalization. It is the inevitable trend for the fusion and collision of virtual and reality in cities to develop urban public spaces in our age.The information age inaugurated a new world distinguished from all previous ages for us. In this world, networks brought people possibilities to exist in two worlds—virtual and realistic. Therefore the human living space was in possession of unprecedented integrity. In the text, by taking new internet bars of urban public spaces in the information era as the key of the thesis, I made an intensive analysis of this phenomenon. On one hand, it relocated the functions and meanings of internet bars in cities, through lots of investigations of the state of development, characteristics and the facts at home and abroad on internet bars. And made people aware that internet bars weren't only new styles of architecture and public utilities in the information age, but also a kind of intermedium and a new urban public space between virtual and reality. On the other hand, the text descanted on the developing meanings and actions of crowds (netizens) who used virtual space in the urban public space, and studied in various aspects on the crowd's characteristics, the structural features, on-line conditions, the status of not netizens and other factors, provided significant bases data for the planning of new urban public spaces in the information era. According to the conclusions of the two parts above and combining with a great number of instances, using ways of viewing angles to analyze virtual space and realistic space comparatively in Chapter 6 of this text, moreover, analyzed and summarized in various aspects of producing form, organizational form, social structure, and spacing intercourse and so on.Finally, this text plotted out bold idea and expectation contraposed the conclusion above, for the future developing direction of urban public space and the evolution of urban planning theories. In the information era, the problems which are facing by the urban planningsuch as the development, exclusion and fusion of virtual and realistic space will become even more complicated. Opportunities coexist with challenges. Only bracing ourselves to meet challenges head-on, continuing to broaden fields of vision, and making efforts to absorb nourishment from related subjects, can we urban planning workers be competent for our holy duties assigned by the history.
