As the champion among the seven ancient Chinese cities, Xi'an had served intermittently as the capital of thirteen dynasties. It attracts people all over the world with rich cultural heritages. Through the investigation, we noticed the heritages had suffered destruction and died out, especially the culture square and its kits. After the analysis, we found the core reason is people lack the comprehensive and protect consciousness of the history and traditional culture. Therefore, this text is with the " the lamps' shape art of Xi'an Southgate square" for the chance, launching a series of investigation and analysis. The purpose is using wide to know and highly anticipated place to guide people concern the traditional culture and completely cognize the history and culture of Xi'an city. To offer power for improve the perish of city history and culture and push the development of Xi'an history and culture square.The lamp of each period, which is a combination of art and technology, is the epitome of its producing ability. The evolvement of lamp reflects the development of a country's culture. Having a prosperous history, our lamps fall behind the western countries' since the appearing of electric light, which is similar to our national culture.This text put my hand to the phenomenon of the race culture died out in city development, inheriting history, researching and analyzing the rules of symbolizationdegree of product and its element from the aspect of symbolism based on Chinese ancient lamps, in order that the rules of lamps' development rules and the typical symbols of each developing period could be found. And it is intended that the research work could be useful to the modern lamps' development, which have been influenced greatly by western lamps, then guiding the lamps' shape art of Xi'an Southgate square which having plentifulness of culture and race features.
