Both the primary methods of Rayleigh wave testing and its characteristics are synthetically discussed. The development and existing problem of the Rayleigh wave testing at home and abroad are summarized. The application of wavelet transform in signal analysis and the process is also introduced.According to the characteristic of Rayleigh wave testing, the transform modulus maximum of wavelet transform is used to process the signal by Rayleigh wave in-situ testing. Based on the diversity of the noise type in the signal of Rayleigh wave testing and its characteristics of spread in wavelet transform, wavelet transform can be used to improve to get the effective signals. So the dispersion curve of Rayleigh wave to can be received accurately.Based on the characteristics of wavelet transform, the Wavelet Singularity Detection is used to locate the feature point and anomaly extension of the rayleigh wave dispersion curve. By finding out the feature point in the figure of frequency-velocity and converting to the figure of wavelength-velocity, anomaly extension can be directly viewed. There is advantage in the judgment of the stratify condition, the flaw site and so on. Through the example in the paper, the validity and practicability of this method and its reasonable result are verified. This method can satisfy the engineering requirement.
