Anti-sliding stability of gravity dams is the key technique of dam designing. The paper summarizes the methods of stability analysis of gravity dam both at home and abroad and the using of reliability theory in anti -sliding reliability of dam. In the design of gravity dams, lots of parameters are uncertain. The reliability theory has considered the randomicity of the parameters, and the effect of the results according with the actual projects are better, so the theory is abroad used. But the extrusive problem of the reliability theory at present is that the random reliability theory has not considered other uncertainties in actual projects, for example, the fuzzy.The paper has done some jobs basing upon the study that mentioned previous.Combined with two projects: A Dam (No.9 part) and Xiangjia Dam (NO.12 part), the method has been used to make an exploration of the surface anti-sliding and the deep anti-sliding stability problems, and validate the feasibility and rationality of the method at one time.
