With the development of national economy, more and more expressways were built on the soft soil ground. During the construction of expressway, the observation of stress and deformation can offer the first-hand materials for various analysis and research with a large number of surveying data. On the other hand, it's worth studying the road bed stress and deformation of the expressway, but there are various influencing factors on soft soil foundation. They were analyzed according to finite element analytical method and surveying data in this text. The main content is as follows:1. The actual observation road bed stress and strain data are so important that theequipments and methods for observation of the road bed were detailed introduced in the paper.2. There are various influencing factors on road bed stress and deformation. Under fillingout the function of loading of soil, the road bed stress and deformation is hardly to analysed. Natural road bed in fill out soil load stress and deformation were analysed through finite element method. Then, the analysis result was examined through the actual observation data in this text.3. While analyzing the road bed deformation in the finite element that different reasonscausing greater changes ware discovered. Then, the influence of hard shell distributing universally in North China Plain to deformation was analysed by surveying data and Plaxis.
