The Modified Compression Field Theory (MCFT) is one of the nonlinear analytical methods with an emphasis on shear failure presented by Vecchio and Collins, which regards cracked reinforced concrete as a new type of material. Its material constitutive relation is expressed in terms of average stress and strains. The characteristics of compression softening as well as tension stiffening of cracked concrete are considered. The response of the members is predicted by using equilibrium conditions, compatibility conditions and the local stress check in cracks.Based on the basic theories of MCFT, a sectional analysis algorithm for beams under the combined action of shear and bending proposed by Collins was realized. The shear behavior of the RC beams with stirrups was calculated by using the MCFT approach,Chinese Codes and ACI Codes and the analytical results was compared with the experimental data. Aiming at some of the shortcomings of the original algorithm, such as its tedious iterative nesting and so on, two improved algorithms was put forward. Approach 1: the curvature
