The research derives from the rapid construction and development ofChinese resort since 1990s. With large quantities of projects, we should set upa theoretic framework of planning of resort according to Chinese situation, not the foreign experience. This research focuses on the morphologicalevolution and renovation of Lushan resort, one of the typical examples ofearliest Chinese resorts constructed by foreign people. In the perspective of the spatial exploitation of Lushan resort, this thesistries not only to find out the process, features, and reasons of Lushan'smorphological evolution in recent 100 years or so, but also to study thepotential relationship between the evolution and the situation of politics, economy, society, technology and culture of Lushan. Furthermore, in order toprovide a reference for continuable development of Lushan in future, thethesis discusses the regulation, optimization, and problems of the evolution ofLushan. The research can be divided into three parts: Because of the lack oftheoretic research in resort planning, the thesis is mainly based on thefollowing three fields: "tourism", "the urban morphology" and "lushanmountain", which are generalized into Chapter I and II. The second part of thethesis is to analysis the evolution in various phases, mainly about the traceand features. The third part mainly describes the project of the ComprehensivePlanning of Lushan National Park (2003-2020), especially the design of tourspace.
