Mr XuZhong's Educational Philosophy Of Architecture, And The Architectural Department Of TianJin University

XuZhong (1912-1985) graduated from ZhongYang University, andthen went to USA to study for master of architecture in the Universityof Illinois of Chicago. He came back in 1937, who had taught inZhongYang University and TangShan Institute of BeiFangJiaoTongUniversity in the next ten years. He started his education in thearchitectural department of TianJin University in 1952. He was one ofthe founders, and later affected the educational character of thearchitectural department of TianJin University. This paper introduces the experience of XuZhong, and analyses thesource of his educational philosophy as well as how it formed anddevelopment, states his educational method and feature, narrates thedeveloping and affection of his educational thought during the periodof TianJin University. At last, the paper introduces and analyses hisdesigning works and theory, as concerning references to understand hisarchitectural philosophy. Along with the coming of knowledge economic times, we shouldfill with creative thoughts, and should take effort to study theexperience and lesson of ancestor. And the teaching process ofarchitectural design suited for our times should be researchedreasonably. We should inherit essence of architectural teaching andimprove our teaching level. We should establish a reasonable andscientific teaching pattern.
