Resource and environment are two topics of Internal CombustionEngine Technology. HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition)is a new conception combustion theory with a character that combineshomogeneous charge and low temperature heat release. It has atremendous potential of realizing low emissions and high heat rate. However, HCCI combustion also faces a vast challenge in the fields ofcontrolling ignition timing and extending operation range. This thesis firstly researched the development history of HCCIcombustion. The control strategy of IEGR(Internal Exhausted GasesRecycle) based on VVA(Variable Valve Actuation) was then presented.Subsequently, relative experimental setup system was built. Singlecylinder engine,HCCI gasoline ECU(Electronic Control Unit) andreal-time combustion analysis & monitoring system were included in thissystem. Aiming at the existing problems of HCCI combustion, spark ignitionand methanol gasoline were used to explore the influence on HCCIcombustion respectively. Results showed that spark discharge can changeHCCI ignition timing and combustion process. If a spark discharge is atpresent, fuel consumption and IMEP even can be improved about 20%. Inaddition, methanol-gasoline hybrid fuel HCCI combustion can shortencombustion duration and increase IMEP compared with pure gasolineHCCI mode.
