With the development of the exploration and exploitation of offshore oil in coldregion, people begin to pay more attention to ice-induced structural vibration, especially those severe vibrations, which greatly affect the production and the comfortand safety of people on the platform in winter. This paper studies ice-induced flexible vertical structure vibration by the meansof model test. Firstly, a brief introduction of the physical and mechanicalcharacteristics of sea ice is given. Then the paper summarizes the research status andmodel test in ice-induced vibration, presenting popular theories, methods, and modeltest equipments of ice-induced vibration. Based on the above information, theprinciple of dynamic ice force model test in this paper is decided, the compliancesimulator is chosen, and the test process is designed. This paper takes dynamic ice force function as the cut-in point to solve theice-induced structural vibration. Through careful observation of the test phenomenaand the analysis of a large number of data gained from a series of dynamic ice forcemodel tests, we come to the conclusion that ice-induced vertical structural steadyvibration belongs to ice-structure interaction. Then we define a non-dimensionalparameter——interaction coefficient I to decide the ice-structure interaction level. Atlast, we establish the dynamic ice force function under ice-induced vertical structuralvibration, which means great value to engineering.
