To improvement of the steady performance of transient mixed flow pump in Air Turbine Pump Ejection System (ATPES) and search the best special flow structure and assurance that the characteristics and structure of water pump meet the requirements of ATPES, special-type mixed flow pump in ATPES is regarded as investigative object, and steady operation characteristics and interior flow of mixed flow pump under multi-work operations are studied in detail by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technology as well as prediction of steady flow performance. Moreover, the effect that different yielding water structures influence the performance of mixed flow and ATPES is analyzed.First of all, the four methods, by which analyze the hydraulic characteristics and interior flow of mixed flow pump, are introduced roundly, and merits and drawbacks of every methods is listed detailedly. It is a very effective method to analyze the flow characteristics of fluid machine with numerical simulation, which has high degree of accuracy and short research cycle and minimum investment.Secondly, the development process and present research conditions of centrifugal impeller interior flow numerical simulation are narrated, while five turbulent models in relation to numerical simulation are given a presentation. Then, strongpoints and shortcomings of each method can be taken an important comparison as well as the applicability of CFD analysis in fluid machinery. The modeling of impeller and method of mesh and setting of boundary conditions are expatiated. At the same time, the prediction method of mixed flow pump exterior characteristics can be given according to the calculation results.Thirdly, steady fluid field are simulated by CFD software under multi-work conditions of mixed flow pump. Interior flow characteristics and exterior performance of mixed flow pump are analyzed roundly, while compare numerical analysis results with experiment results.Finally, based on the original model analysis, interior flow characteristics and exterior performance of mixed flow pump with three different discharge structures are calculated, and analyze the Head and efficiency of each structure under static and total pressure respectively. It is reasonable that special-type mixed flow pump use radial direction discharge structure in ATPES.This paper builds the numerical simulation system of special-type mixed flow pump, and analyzes the steady interior flow characteristics and exterior hydraulic performance of transient pump. The results not only provide the theory foundation for development and optimization of ATPES, but also enrich the theory and application of mixed flow pump. Therefore, it is important academic significance and strong actual application value.
