As the research theory of the pile foundation is perfected, the design method is enhanced and the construction technology is strengthened, the design of the long and medium sized pile is able to satisfy with the vertical and horizontal loaded actions. However, with the developing of the harbor engineering and the ocean engineering, people put more and more attention to the piles of the horizontal bearing capacity under the complicated geological conditions. Especially, whether the pile can stand steadily in the shallow layer or not during the construction. As far as this problem is concerned, there is not any theoretical research on it at home and abroad. Consequently, we study the pile and soil's mechanism of action each other about the horizontal loaded pile in the shallow layer, to meet the demands of the actual project. At the mean time, we should be bound to solve the appropriate calculation method.In this paper, we reach the conclusion that the P-Y curve method can be used for solving the problem about the horizontal loaded pile in the shallow layer through studying the calculation method comprehensively and detailedly at home and abroad. At present, all the P-Y curve methods recommended by the referring code demand using geotechnic parameters Cu (three-axle undrained shear strength) and ε50(the strain value that is equal to a half of the difference stress in the undrained triaxial compressing test). Moreover, we must do the complex and expensive triaxial geotechnic experiment to get those two geotechnic parameters, so they restrain the P-Y curve method from using comprehensively. In the paper, we adopt the analytical method concluding the theoretical research and experimental research to create the P-Y curve calculation model that is described by a series of geotechnic parameters such as the unconfined compressive strength, natural gravity and the compression coefficient in the shallow layer of the clay soil . The calculation example indicates that the calculation value of the pile moment of flexure of the body and the peak displacement agree with the measured value.
