With the increasing of electric voltage grade, requirement of line protection ishigher and higher, some new rationales and technology have appeared. This paperputs forward a scheme of transmission line adaptive distance relay based on waveletneural network. This scheme is different form tradition distance relay, it needn'tcalculation of line resistance, using sampling data and training off-line, adaptivelyacting for various shorting fault of line. This scheme includes three parts: faultdetection, fault location and single-phase adaptive re-closure. The simulative testresults show that the scheme can identify the fault line and fault type correctly, thencomplete fault location function.
