A lot of simulations for the 6-35kV medium-voltage distribution network withdifferent neutral grounding techniques have been done by the ATP/EMTP software inthis paper, and the disadvantages of neutral resonance grounded mode and neutralflexible grounded mode have been proposed by in-depth analyses and studies on thesimulation results. Based on the preceding work, further analyses and studies on thetransient state of single-phase ground fault in medium-voltage distribution network hasbeen carried on, and a new neutral grounding mode has been proposed. The theoreticalanalysis and a great deal of simulations have shown advantages of the new program onlimiting the over-voltage of single-phase ground fault, restraining excessive remnantcurrent and detecting faults. Finally, the way about how to put the new program intopractice has been discussed and some methods to solve the possible problems inapplication has been proposed. And also a preliminary plan for the controller design hasbeen given in this paper.
