As one of the greatest cultural classics, the Book of Changes has impacted traditional Chinese philosophy significantly as well as all kinds of ancient arts. The impacts of the Book of Changes on Chinese classical gardens were analyzed in this thesis from four aspects. Firstly, Chinese classical gardens always tried to simulate natural scenery and the harmony of the universe. This indicated one of the Book of Changes ideas that human beings should take nature as example and be in harmony with the nature. Secondly, a series of contrary factors were integrated in Chinese classical gardens. That reflected the dialectic which originated from the Book of Changes. Thirdly, Chinese classical gardens maintained a highly balanced ecosystem, and they were good at choosing geomantic omen to keep animation. This phenomenon can be explained by the admired attitude of the Book of Changes to life. Finally, the indicative meaning of natural scenery and artistic conception were pursued in Chinese classical gardens at all time. This convention related to the Book of Changes' opinion that the aim of creating image was to express the meaning.
