With the continuous progress of informalization, road survey and design are developing in a multi-dimensional way. However traditional results of road survey and design are represented by two-dimensional maps, and a minority of them are static three-dimensional wireframe for a very local area and it is difficult to model the road and its real environment, so the representation is not intuitive enough, and can't be dynamically visualized. In fact, the 3D landscape model provides the photorealistic geometry of terrain and designed road for decision-making.After reviewing the existing 3D spatial data model, the modeling method of 3D road landscape is introduced for 3D visualization, analytical analysis and thematic information management of a large-scale area. Especially, the digital terrain modeling as TIN and Grid networks, remote sensed image processing and the automatic modeling of road surface using the designed data, the integrated database management and the interactive 3D visualization methods are stressed in this paper.
