| With lake water environment around the world getting worse and worse, hydrodynamics and water quality modeling technique, which is an important means for understanding the status and trends of lake environment, has been extensively applied in the protection and management of shallow lake water environment. Whereas, although a huge amount of numerical simulation work has been done on lakes, there are still not officially standardized models in China. In this paper, RMA2 model and RMA4 model, which were developed by Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, Waterways Experiment Station, US Army Engineer Research and Development Center and officially recognized as standardized models in America, are introduced into the research of Wulihu lake water environment. This application study is helpful to the standardization of lake hydrodynamics and water quality numerical simulation in China. This paper has expounded the structures and functions of RMA2 and RMA4 models and developed additional pre-process/post-process programs to overcome the inconvenience of data process of RMA2 and RMA4 models. Taking Wulihu lake as an example, this paper has studied the sensitivity of major parameters of introduced models. Based on the relative water resources protection planning of Wuxi city, the paper has designed different water diversion schemes for Wulihu lake water environment improvement in which large diversion flow joins with different small diversion flows. By means of RMA2 and RMA4 models, the paper has systematically simulated the water environment improvement degrees of different schemes in Wulihu lake, and a suggested scheme has been recommended according to both economic cost and the effects of water quality improvement. The research results of this paper provide scientific basis for Wulihu lake water environment protection decision-making. |
