The plastic underground drainpipe, a newly drainage piping material, grows very fast and has already been accepted in the market abroad or domestically. By comparing and researching between the plastic underground drainpipe and the traditional reinforced concrete pipe , the thesis discusses technical and economical advantages of the newly plastic underground drainpipe substituting the traditional piping material.On comparing the product cost, the paper puts forward in practicing the large diameter city drainpipe,the soild wall pipe is less economical than the structure wall pipe which can save 50~70% material of the same quality and achieving the same ring stiffness. At the same time, it suggested that using PVC-U preferential in practicing city plastic drainpipe under DN300. In practicing the mid-small diameter, the double wall ripple pipe is much economical and to the large diameter, the twist pipe or the glass fiber reinforced plastic mortar pipe should be used.On all-round comparing the technical capability and economy analysis etc. between the plastic underground drainpipe and the traditional pipe material, the paper shows 6 advantages of plastic underground drainpipe and its superiority of substituting traditional piping material. And on putting forward the theory that the plastic underground drainpipe is flexible pipe, it points out that the newly plastic underground drainpipe could meet using requirement in the practice of city planning drainpipe web.The paper especially pointed that ring stiffness is integrated parameter of plastic underground drainpipe anti extra-pressure capability. In order to ensure safety use of plastic underground drainpipe under extra-pressure, the choice of ring stiffness is one of the keys in planning. According to piping vertical transmogrification formula, it showed that requirement of ring stiffness could be reduced if well laying, and emphasized the importance of pipe laying.Through comparing and researching examples of many actual city planning projects, the paper shows that in the same engineering project, using newly underground drainpipe instead of traditional reinforced concrete pipe not only can reduce construction intensity, decrease working procedures, shorten time limit for a project, but also can prolong using life to more than 50 years, thus can reduce more than 30% cost of whole project. Hereby newly city plastic underground drainpipe has far-ranging application value and can completely substitute traditional piping material.
