Pulverizing systems are widely used in power plants and many problems of the system in operation remain to be resolved. The best economic operation condition of the coal pulverizing system can not be realized by the manual operation The main difficulties of pulverizing system automation lie in multivariable coupling, time delay, time varying and nonlinearity.Three PID control systems are adopted in pulverizing systems. But it is difficult to overcome the interference among control circuits, and it is difficult to precisely measure the coal in the mill, and problems such as frequent modulation of the system, coal leakage and blocking, and negligence of manual operation still exist. So the decoupling control method is studied. This paper, taking a ball mill storage pulverizing coal system as an example, introduces the existing control methods and analyzes and discusses characteristics of the ball mill system, factors affecting the operation, the model identification of the system, the decoupling control technology and the design of the decoupler. The configuration and operation of the decoupling control system are carried out on a DCS system and site disturbing tests show that the test results meet the case.
