With the development of petro-chemical industry, the vertical un-anchored tanks are employed widespreadly, our country is a nation with frequent earthquake, at the moment, it entered into a new frequent earthquake period, so the dynamic earthquake response analysis on the tanks in seismic area ,then adopting some essential engine measure to reduce the earthquake damage of tanks are very necessary. An seismic platform test on the storage thank model is carried out, testing the earthquake dynamic response of the tank is one of the most desired methods to analyze the seismic response. But this method is so waste both in time and cost, so at the moment, researchers have less test on the tank model, but focus on the theory analysis. First this thesis carries out an earthquake platform test on the storage tank. On the basis of it, Ansys is used to make the numerical emulation analysis to the earthquake dynamic response of the storage tank model. Then comparing the result of the numerical emulation analysis and the result of the seismic platform test, the relationship between the model test and numerical emulation is settled, in order to provide the method to check the analysis and research the earthquake response of storage tank in the following study of adopting numerical emulation to replace the model test. This paper mainly performed the following research work: 1. The research on the earthquake of the vertical un-anchored storage tanks is summarize, and discuss the researching methods and results on the earthquake of the storage tanks in the civil and overseas. 2. The seismic platform of the 1000cube storage tank is researched. The model tank of 1000cube is designed, which according to 1:4 model scale, then testing platform is settled to analyze the test result. 3. The numerical emulation of model tank and real tank of 1000cube are carried out. ANSYS is employed to analyze the model tank with 1:4 scale and real tank of 1000cube. And the result is also analyzed. 4. The analysis of the testing result and emulated testing result is made. To check the accuracy of the emulation test, the research on the testing result of 1:4 seismic platform model of 1000cube vertical un-anchored storage tanks and 1:4 model of 1000cube storage tanks, and the emulation analytic result of seismic response of real 1000cube storage tank are carried out. The research shows that the seismic dynamic response of the emulation test and model seismic dynamic test can be good fit. So in researching the seismic dynamic response of the storage tank, the seismic platform test can provide a more convenient method for the research.
