Contrast to traditional metal bearings, because not only the working medium of water-lubricated bearings changes thoroughly, but also commonly the elastic modulus of theirs underlayers are low, their surface elastic distortion can't be ignored. When research lubrication performance of water-lubricated bearings, their surface elastic distortion must be considered. The factors that influence the surface elastic distortion of water-lubricated bearings have many such as loads, rotate speed, underlayer thickness and hardness.Up to now,the research hasn't been perfected. At the aspects of the theory and experimental research of surface disortion's effect on lubrication performance of the water-lubricated bearing,it is all needed .Aim at these problems hereinbefore, this paper has researched the lubrication performance of the water-lubricated plastic alloy bearing both the theory and experiment. Firstly, this paper has perfected the theory research of surface disortion's effect on lubrication performance of the water-lubricated plasic alloy bearing. The simplified model that is capable of analyzing the thickness of plastic alloy was adopted. The calculative program using the finite difference method was programmed. The flow chart of calulative program and the numerical calculative examples were gived. On the basis of the numerical results, the pressure distribute, the shape of water film and bear weight capacity curves of water-lubricated bearings of different plastic alloy underlayer thichness and hardness were protracted. From these curves, they can be seen:because of the surface elastic distortion of water-lubricated plastic alloy bearings, the pressure of the bearing decreases remarkably, water film covers more and bear weight capacity decreases. When the thickness of plastic alloy underlayer increases, the pressure of the bearing decreases, the thickness of the water film increases, water film covers more and bear weight capacity decreases. When the elastic modulus of plastic alloy underlayer increases, the pressure of the bearing increases, the thickness of the water film decreases, water film covers less and bear weight capacity increases. Secondly, validate the theory research of surface disortion's effect on lubrication performance of the water-lubricated plasic alloy bearing using coefficient of friction as the performance guid line. The experiment of water-lubricated bearings of different plastic alloy underlayer thickness and hardness was done. The experimental results show that when the thickness of plastic alloy underlayer increases, the coefficient of friction has decreasing current. When the hardness of plastic alloy underlayer increases, the coefficient of friction has increasing current.Currents of the experimental results are same as the theory analysis. From that the theory was proved to be correct.
