Pre-stress space steel structures are combined modern technic of pre-stress with space steel structures and are modern cross-system of infinite life force. The structures have much advantage of slinky sculpt, rational bear force, choiceness capability, thus the structures develop rapid at the near years.The space steel structural apply range become wide and the economy become much more rational when consider pre-stress. But, the value of pre-pull most take try calculation method at practice engineering apply, which serious restrict extend and apply of the structures.At first, the paper discusses development state, types and its characteristic, the theory of bear force, the method to load, lay cables and the dominating method of bring to bear pre-stress of pre-stress steel structures, and the rational number to bring to bear pre-stress. The paper emphasis discusses optimization design of pre-stress space steel structures. The paper takes pull cables and element sections as design variables, and gives optimization model of pre-stress space truss structures and the approach of optimization design. The paper analyzes pre-stress optimization of grid structures by an example. This validates the feasibility of this model and gains some beneficial conclusion. Steel structures of our country must be rapid developed along with economy strength become well and the improve demand of civilization. The conclusion of paper will be providing some reference and help to designer of pre-stress steel structures.
