Composite material has many advantages, as an indispensable part of contemporary manufactory industry, its usage spreads all kinds of areas in the modern society. Propellers made with composite material have a great potential market in that they have high intensity, low gravity, good elasticity and a low price, besides, it is corrosion resistant and easy to produce. This article is based on a good research of contemporary ready-made propellers in the market, it will introduce how the author designed and developed a kind of adjustable pitch propeller that is made of composite materials and suitable for small-scale shipping equipments. It will also include the structural analysis and pressure test of the propellers. During the process of analysis, the Finite Element Method was applied, different elements in all the situations were analyzed to achieve accuracy. In the structural analyzing process, various disadvantages of the original design were revealed, new improved ideas were presented and the structural analysis was conducted repeatedly until the ultimate design was achieved. The final propellers are well improved in the aspects of intensity and adjustable pitch assembling. The result reveals that propellers designed are quite safe to use in all the possible circumstances, the assembling was tested by the original criteria and was proved to be convenient. Thus the design can be thought as a successful one.All the figures in this article are finished by the 3DMAX. During analysis, the stable lift procedure PSF2 was used to do the calculation on fluid mechanics, combined with ANSYS for structural analysis.
