The simulation of traffic is an advanced technology used in traffic experiment via digital computer. Through the research to simulation of traffic system, the rules about discrepant distribution of traffic flow variables in time and space are concluded, and the relationship among traffic control variables are attained with aim of eventually achieving recurrence of current traffic system and prediction of future traffic system. For above purposes, this thesis would focus on the microscopic simulation of traffic flow and the simulation of intellectual traffic administration. In the process of building microscopic simulation models for traffic flow, several methods and technologies were used by author. In detail, GIS technology was applied in modeling traffic network system, gravity model was used in modeling travel demands of traffic, and two kind of methods were employed in modeling movement of vehicles, one is to build vehicles' movement model directly by analyzing the behaviors of vehicles' movement carefully and then utilize Maximum Likelihood Function to estimate parameters, second is to use High-order Generalized Neural Networks to build the model of vehicle movements. In modeling intellectual traffic administration, in order to realize intellectual management of traffic system, High-order Generalized Neural Networks were applied in predicting traffic again and two new technologies, Fuzzy Control and Genetic Algorithm, were employed in optimizing the traffic signal. In addition, route guidance system of vehicles was built in this thesis to reduce the travel time. On the basis of above disciplines, the author used C# language to self-develop GIS-based urban dynamic traffic simulation system was developed in on ArcGIS platform. This simulation system not only visualized dynamic movement of vehicles, but also realized the statistic, analysis and output of resulted data. During operation, we found that this system have important practical value. It realized the simulation, evaluation and optimization of operating effect of the real traffic plan management and signal control scheme.
