Flexible AC Transmission Systems — FACTS is a novel transmission technology which is being recently developed at home and abroad. FACTS actualizes the flexible control of AC Transmission Systems through adopting the newest achievement of electron technology and modern control technology. FACTS technology provides a new effective scheme for stability of power system. At the present, the research of this aspect includes: fixing location of FACTS equipments in system; influence of the parameter and control regulation for the dynamic behavior in system; all kinds of new control strategies, including harmony among FACTS equipments etc.In this thesis, it mainly introduces Var compensation control scheme of FACTS and takes TCSC (Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor) which is extensively recognized researched and analyzed. According to characteristic of TCSC and researching achievement of former researcher, this thesis develops a novel linearized discrete-time control model for TCSC. In the model, input is the delay angle of thyristor valves, and inductor current is chosen as output. Through the results of simulation, it shows that this model is efficient to establish foundation for development of TCSC controller.To cope with the problems about model uncertainties and time-variety, a kind of predictive control algorithm through adding a differential term of output prediction deviation into a cost function is developed to more effectively control TCSC. Eventually, simulation studies show the satisfactory effects in a sense of overshoot and settling time of control system.
