Some applications using finite element method are studied in this thesis. A simplemethod to model arbitrary complex structures before processing finite elementanalysis is presented. An improved model of honeycomb core and a simplified modelfor mechanic analysis of honeycomb sandwich plate are built. The improved model isof higher precision than the classical Allen model. Superimposing plate bendingelement DKT and membrane element CST, a good performance flat shell element isestablished. Then linear buckling procedure of this shell is programming and using insteel beam design. A finite element software, which has a user-friendly interface, isdeveloped and can be applied widely to harbour structures.
