Steel truss is a widely used structural form. Because of the variety of its form and legerity, truss specially is applicable to long-span construction. There were little data on the buckling behaviors of truss compression chord with some panels and non-hinge joints before. Buckling correlativity is the effects of the truss compression chord one each other because of the different compression forces among panels. The bracing setting and connecting ways determine the joint rigidity. The buckling behaviors of truss compression chord are studied in the thesis.First, the classical theories about strut buckling and some background knowledge of truss are introduced, including development, mechanical behavior, engineering practice. Secondly, four chapters to study the problem of strut buckling are adopted, that is: 1. The buckling of single-span strut, including flexural buckling and flexural-torsional buckling; 2. The flexural buckling of continuous chord with rigid joint; 3. The flexural buckling of continuous chord with imperfection rigid joint; 4. The flexural-torsional buckling of continuous chord. Both instances of elastic and inelastic are considered in flexural buckling. On the analyzing the results from several theories method and finite element method, some useful conclusions are drawn and practical formulas and data tables are given, which can be easy used in the design of steel trusses.
