Chaos theory is among the youngest of the sciences, and has rocked from its obscure roots in the seventies to become one of the most fascinating fields in existence. Chaos is at the forefront of much research on physical systems, and has already implemented in fields covering as diverse matter as communication, control, chemistry, life science and so on. Some feature of chaos such as high initial sensitivity and immunity from noise are fit for measurement. In this paper, it introduces some cases of chaos, including its present research state, origin, concept, primary coverage, development and so on. Through leading in Duffing equation, we find it is sensitive to amplitude of driving force. So we can use the intermittent chaos to precisely measure the frequency of an unknown signal which is inputted from outside. Of course, before the measurement, we should first process the amplitude of collected signal, make it fit for the requirement; then forecast the frequency, and adjust for precision, by observing the sequence chart, get the last result. This paper emphasis on theory MATLAB simulation, and analyses the experiment error. It also analyses and processes the experimental data. This is only attempt to measure the frequency of unknown signal by using chaos, but it is significance to reality measurement. Now the theory of measurement using chaos is still not very clear. The research of signal measurement using chaos is still studying phase. But its outstanding features fitting for measuring are attracting more and more people to study.
