The double involute gear with ladder-shaped teeth is a new type of involute gear, which comprises the advantages of both common involute gear and double circular-arc gear. It was firstly put forward by my supervisor prof. Zhang Guanghui. The so-called double involute gear with ladder-shaped teeth consists of two interlocked involutes and a transitional curve which links above concerned involutes, and the involutes of the addendum and dedendum are ladder-shaped placed. Prof. Zhang holds that double involute gear with ladder-shaped teeth possesses the advantages of good technology, high bending strength, high contact strength and fewer teeth. Comparative analysis and study has been done between involute gear and double involute gear with the same design parameters about bending strength and contact strength by using three dimensions finite element method, and the result makes known: the bending strength of double involute gear is higher than common involute gear; the contact strength of double involute gear is lower than involute gear when meshing at nodal point, but the contact strength of double involute gear is not lower obviously than involute gear when the contact region distributes the whole breadth of tooth, and even is superior to the involute gear. At the same time, the situation that tooth thickness coefficient of correction and tooth waist transition curve altitude coefficient, the two ladder parameters influence bending strength and contact strength of double involute gear is emphatically analysed by using finite element method. The result makes known: the tooth thickness coefficient of correction influences chiefly bending strength of double involute gear, and does not influence contact strength; tooth waist transition curve altitude coefficient influences chiefly contact strength of double involute gear, especially the contact strength when meshing at nodal point, and the coefficient also influences the bending strength when meshing at nodal point. The general service test on double involute gear is done on electric enclosed-type power stream gear running test stand. The result makes known: the reducer box of double involute gear runs smoothly, temperature rise and noise are regular, the performance is dependable steady, and promises extensive application area. At the same time, the performance comparitive test research is done between common involute gear and double involute gear that have the same parameters and work condition. The results indicate that the efficiency, temperature rise and noise of double involute gear approach the common involute gear, even excel the involute gear sometimes.
