Regard to the complex spatial structure of united dam-power house built in the river bed, 3D non-linear finite element method(FEM) and genetic algorithm are used to study such research works as stress and strain analysis, stability of dam foundation , failure mechanism and determination of sliding pathes of house-dam block of TuKa Hydro-project.1 , Three-dimensional numerical model of the dam and its foundation is established to analyze the stress and strain and to appraise the operation state under various working conditions.2, According to the distribution of stress based on the FEM result, the bending moment and axial force of the governing section can be obtained by integral method. Accordingly, the reinforcing design of the hydraulic structure is given.3, The dam foundation's degradation process is simulated and the failure pattern and sliding pathes are determined ,and finally the safety factor is obtained by using the material strength reserve method.4, An adaptive genetic algorithm based on real coding is put forward to search for the possible buried slip routes based on the stress field obtained in finite element analysis. And the critical slip path with minimum safety factor is determined.5, A program based on Excel VBA is designed to plot a batch of various diagrams automatically. In addition, these plots can be combined according to the needed style, thus greatly increase working efficiency.
