The model of manufacturing resources is the information shared among every single unit of manufacturing procedure of product. Manufacturing resource modeling is describing the information of the manufacturing resource objects for the aim of information integration, and constructing a manufacturing resource service platform which is universal and capable of timely reflecting the change of manufacturing environment and resources and providing information for application subsystems and every phase of production periods. With the help of a general platform of manufacturing resources, we can make a unified mathematical model and database, improve the efficiency of data transport and the level of system's integration, assure the consistency, reliability and sharing of data among different systems.Supported by Sichuan Province, this paper mainly research on manufacturing resource modeling, construction of the development platform, data query technology and engineering material digital manual. The main outcome of the research is following:1. The descriptions of present manufacturing resources in CIMS are all limited. All the departments and subsystems extract the data resources and store them in their respective database according to their own needs, gradually, there appear their respective independent database serving for their separated application systems, onthe consequence, the definitions of manufacturing resources are not unified. Aim for this problem, this paper puts forward the concept of a unified manufacturing resource sharing platform and makes some analysis on the platform's structure, function and the related crucial technology.2. This paper conceives the functional architecture of a resource sharing platform. Based on resource warehouses of standard, software, equipments and technological production, the manufacturing resource sharing platform supports cooperation among enterprises, provides resource integration and management, networked manufacturing service, user identity registration and management, etc.3. While designing a product, a very pivotal problem is to choose correct engineering material. Traditionally, the designer has to frequently consult manuals. There are several engineering material consulting software at present market of system integration product, but most of them lack unified standard of data, moreover, they are still hovering around at the level of electronic manuals and give no help to decide which material is the best one to use. Based on the unified manufacturing resource platform discussed previously, this paper researches and develops the engineering material digital manual system. The digital manual system has unified data standard, abundance material category and powerful query function, at the same time, it can perform the computer aided engineering material with the fuzzy set theory.4. This paper combines the digital manual system and the fuzzy set theory, designs fuzzy membership function fit for material query. Using the method of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, the system allows user to find the material he needs by specifying the query conditions of material properties. This material query system is able to improve efficiency and veracity of product design, and to promote the manufacturing resource integration as a single module.
