As an important method of developing new products, digesting and assimilating the advanced technique of manufacture, Reverse Engineering draws high attention in industry in many countries, obtains many achievements and wide application, in which multi-view registration is an important problem of point data preprocessing, its accuracy influences directly the feasibility and accuracy of latter model reconstruction.This thesis mainly discusses the development of the software system for multi-view registration. Firstly, it states the basic conception and application of Reverse Engineering, introduces the multi-view registration, and bring forward the function demand of the software system in allusion to the deficiency of other software systems; Secondly, it summarizes the commonly used methods and algorithms for multi-view registration in Reverse Engineering, together with their advantages, disadvantages and their application. The development of the software system is introduced in details, its main function is to input point data, display models in 3D space, fit point data to basic features, align and merge multi-view point data and output point data as standard file format. It is made up of a main application and three DLLs, in which geometric-tools DLL provides basic geometric operations, OpenGL graph DLL envelops and enhances OpenGl's 3D graphic function, and CAD geometry kernel DLL provides basic CAD geometry class; Finally, the design of two mechanical parts is completed by use of Reverse Engineering software Imageware, Geomagic and CAD software Pro/ENGINEER based on Reverse Engineering.The experiment results indicates that the functions of the developed software system meets the design demand, and that the software system can input the pointdata exported from the CMM system, display it in 3D space, fit point data to basic features, align and merge multi-view point data, and export them to other CAD systems as standard file formats.
