Evaporator is a major component in a refrigeration system and its operation will affect the performance of the system greatly. With the technique of simulation, we can simulate the performance of the evaporator, so as to provide guidance for its further optimization in design and operation. In this paper, four parts are included as follows: experiment research, development of the simulation software, performance analysis and simulation with CFD.An experiment apparatus is set up to test the performance of a finned tube evaporator, and a lot of experiment data have been obtained under different working conditions. The experiment data can be used in evaluating the performance of the evaporator properly, provides basis for the performance improvement of the evaporator, and provides sufficient data samples for simulation.A distributed parameter mathematical model is built for the evaporator, and problems such as the determination of some parameters, simulation algorithms, calculation flow process and the application of simulation program are also discussed. The simulation software is developed with VC++, which can be used to simulate the performance of the evaporator under different conditions and predicate the performance of the evaporator precisely. The program is designed with the idea of modularization and takes full advantage of the design language. Three modules are included in the program which enhanced the readability, portability and expandability of the program.The evaporator simulation is conducted with the above software, and comparisons are also conducted between simulation results and data from experiment and literature...
