Genetic Algorithms(GA) and Artifical Nerual Network(ANN) are the important technique of 21st century numeration technique. As the development and popularization of computer technique,ANN,Fuzzy technology and evolution compute developed rapid in ten years ,and these technologies take on a combination trendency.The optimization way about GA combine with ANN,have ANN abroad mapping ability and GA rapid astringency.ANN and GA makeup and buildup each other,thereby they solve problem easier and stronger.In this paper,exerting this optimization on the disel engine's muffler's structural parameter.The noise level of diesel engine has become one of important indicators on evaluation of its quality and performances.Exhaust noise is a large proportion in the overall noise of diesel engine,and the effective method of its control is the application of muffler with good performances.By the means of orthogonal planning,the learning-samples were obtained.The learning-samples'inputs were the structural parameters of muffler,and its outputs were the specific fuel consumption of diesel engine or the sound pressure levels of the noise.Through the Neural Networks Toolbox of Matlab ,the training of an ANN was finished.Through the optimization of GA,obtain the muffler structural parameters which can make diesel engine having low noise level and low fuel consumption.All these test the probability of the optimization on the designing of diesel engine's muffler.
