A new type of outer mesh and "two teeth difference" planetary gear transmission is studied in this dissertation. The meshing characters of this structure are analyzed and studied by using principle of gear meshing. Based on the structure features and working conditions of the outer mesh and "two teeth difference" planetary gear transmission, combined with the thermal radiation, lubricate experiments, gear shelf experiments and statistic methods of this structure, the features and process of structure failure are analyzed. An important conclusion are drawn that the invalidation form of this structure is "extremity wear". Based on the failure modality and spot-experiments of the transmission, the major effect factors of the longevity are pointed out. Several effective measures in improving working efficiency and life are concluded. In the dissertation, the formula of the working life and efficiency for this structure is deducted. An optimal mathematical model is established and optimization codes are programmed to decide modification coefficient of the two teeth differece transmission. According to the working condition, an improved structure of the gearing is put forward. The last part of the paper, based on the analysis and summing-up of gear meshing failure, the finite element method is used to investigate the intrinsic vibration of the driven gear. Natural frequency and major modes of the gear are analyzed and design a diagnostic system for the outer mesh and "two teeth difference" planetary gear transmission structure which is testified feasible by spot-experiments.
