JinPin II hydropower station is located in the YaLong River segment of Liangsan country of SiChuan province. It is constructed on the basis of deep and thick overburden, the sluice foundation is in the poor uniformity including the structure, the physics and mechanical property. In general, it is belong to multiple,complex foundation, according to the statistical material in the world,The gate dam that constructed in the sand-gravel foundation whose quantities of damage due to the poor anti-seepage measure, accounting for approximately 30-40 percent of the total accidents. Because the seepapage flow in the sluice foundation is strong, and the seepage property of deep and thick overburden is different in layers and in the heterogenity.so the problem of seepage stability is crucial to the coustruction and operation of gate dam.This paper depend on the subject of "the study on the engineering geological property of deep and thick overburden of sluice foundation in the JinPin II hydropower station", take the deep and thick overburden as the research object ,on the basis of research production of predecessor, the paper further shudy the engineering geological condition and evaluate the seepage problem, then based on the simplified model of the geology structure , the finite element numerical modeling technique is used to analyze the seepage field,then according to the results.the paper discuss the different impervious measure and analyse the effect of seepage control.,also, the paper evaluate the sensitivity factors that influence the effect of impervious measure , Finally, this paper discuss the filter measuret that would prevent the seepage outlet from failure.The results,which based on the systematical analysis and evaluation about the deep and thick overborden of sluice foudation,can improve the quality of construction and the precision of the design.it also has the important significance to the safety of gate dam and engineering practices. At the same time,it is also of value to the other water resources and hydroelectric project in the western china.
