| Gear is one of key parts in automobile manufacturers, automobile gear steel (SCM822H) is a main steel of overseas Cr-Mo series gear steel, which has been introduced by China.Development of gear steel (SCM822H) has important significance for expanding variety of our automobile gear steel, improving quality of automobile gear steel and elevating the level of our automobile gear steel in international standing.During developing, gear steel's hardenability and chemical compositions are designed by nonlinear regression equation. The chemical composition and cleanness of steel can be controlled by UHP(EBT) + LF/VD and treatment with calcium in BX Special Steel Company.On the basis of the above, gear steel's hardenability, grain refinement and nonmetal inclusion control elaborate have been discussed. The results are as follows:1. Automobile gear steel with high cleanness, accurate chemical composition and fine grain can be produced by UHP(EBT) + LF/VD and calcium treatment.2. The chemical composition of gear steel was designed according to the calculated results of hardenability from nonlinear regression chemical composition entirely satosfoed the demand of automobile gear steel, and the harden ability band is the range of 6-8 HRC.
