Beijing, the center of politics and culture and the international metropolis with the population beyond 14 million, is also severely lack of water resources. According to the statistics of concerned bureau, the mean annual quantity of the available water resource is 4.133 billion m~3, including the quantity of entering water, which the surface water is 1.5 billion m~3 and the groundwater 2.633 billion m~3. Depending on the collective forecast of the concerned bureau, while the measures of saving water and sewage reusing are taken on, the absence of water in Beijing will be 0.442 billion m~3 and 0.54 billion m~3 in 2005 and 2010 respectively at the dry year. The gap of supply and demand will only be solved by the local water resources, because of no foreign water up to 2010 year. Firstly based on the Pinggu Basin with the potential of emergent exploitation, the dissertation expounds the conditional chance of groundwater recharge, underground flow and drainage with the increase of groundwater consumption in recent years.
