There are many differences between the modernist landscape architecture and the post-modernist landscape architecture, such as in philosophy, aesthetics and design styles. Thirdly, there is a detailed review of the new ideas and styles in post-modernist landscape architecture, including new understanding on the relationship between function and form, the combination of classical and modern, the pursuance of the allusionism and meanings, the recognition of genius loci and contextualism. And the multi-directional styles is mainly narrated in several aspect, such as forms, shapes, materials and technique, styles of design. In conclusion, post-modernism has provided the development of western modern landscape architecture with many new principals and inspirations, and its impact on western modern landscape architecture is tremendous and significant.
