The power flow computation and analysis is a fundamental work for arranging the operation patterns of a power system. During power flow computation, voltage and power transfer on lines often violate their limits. The violation of voltage and power transfer must be eliminated to obtain a feasible operation mode. However, there is a lack of an effective computation tool for the system operators to eliminate the violation. An intelligent power-flow-analysis software is developed, based on the optimal power flow technique, mathematical programming and expert system technology, to help the operators to do power flow analysis and violation elimination. The system can carry out the power flow computation using the P-Q decoupled method, the usual Newton-Raphson method and a hybrid method of the N-R method and the Gauss-Seidel method. It also provides two method for operators to eliminate the variable violation and arrange the operation patterns quickly. The numerical examples of IEEE standard power systems show the effectiveness of the developed system for eliminating the violation.
