In order to meet with more strict emission regulations, many countries' manufacturers and research institutes were absorbed in the application of four valves technology from gasoline engine to diesel engine. In this thesis , the research process of raising performance and reducing the emission of 6M turbocharged intercooler diesel engine by using four valves technology was introduced . During the research process the author simulated and tested a four valves cylinder head ; the experiment was done to match the combustion system . The main method of improving performance and reducing emission is to optimize the swirl ratio of four valves cylinder head. Improvements of combustion system include improvement of swirl ratio matched, adjustment of nozzle tip protrusion etc. Improvements of fuel injection system include application of 7 holes nozzle, adjustment of injection advance degree etc.Experiments proved that the performances and emissions of the matched and optimized engine system were improved greatly. Finely, the performance of 6M turbocharged intercooler four valves diesel engine was raised by 20kw compared with the original engine and the emission was reduced to meet with Euro- II emission regulation.
