The globalization led to the single development pattern of economy and culture in different country. Inevitably architecture involved in this torrent. During this progress architects freely plagiarize the inspiration in spite of the imparity of region, all of this give rise to the regionalism and the nationality in architecture culture vanishs one by one. Architecture lose the rich and colorful image coming from the varied climate and geography, as well as the feeling of local and identity from varied culture. How to resolve this puzzle is a question with which every architect has to face.The development of Swedish architecture since the end of 19-centure can give us a good example: how to absorb the external ideal and culture without losing our own tradition, and keeping our personality. In Sweden the development of regionalism has profound tradition. From the national romanticism movement in the end of 19 century , Swedish architect start pursuing of district feature .Go through several particular period: the new classicalism , Swedish modern architecture and the 1980' afterwards, though the effect of many architect, Sweden have achieved great accomplishment. From their success undoubtedly we will draw helpful experience and illumination.In my thesis, I take the means of compare and summarize chiefly. During relating the character of regional identity in every period, compare it with other period, and summarize the appropriate developing condition of every period. Furthermore come out the whole line of regional trait in Swedish modern architect.Before the progress of relating, I occupy a whole chapter to describe the specialnature, profound architecture culture and thought, because this is the basic origin, just resorting this, Swedish developing her regional identity. On grasping this, we can better interpret the regional identity in Sweden, for they are the premise and foot of architecture.
