In this paper, the development and actuality of coal mine product at home and aboard are reviewed and market requisition of conveyor at present analyzed. The questions with the design of conveyors are analyzed and the efficient solutions to improve are presented. On the basis of these questions, the topology optimization are presented. The topology optimization is the most challenging research topic in the field of structural optimization. And it is the most economic value and the most potential development way. Though the world boasts the 30-year's history of study on topology optimization, and many valuable articles have been published meanwhile. But, it has been not widely used in engineer. This paper will use the way for rump pan. So this paper confronts the great challenge.Rump pan in this paper is created according to the data by Zhang jia kou Coal Mining Machinery Factory. The software Pro/E is used to build model of rump pan. And paper translates the model into software MSC.Patran. MSC.Patran is used to modify the model, divide finite element graticule, apply boundary load, and define material properties, which are submitted to MSC.NASTRAN to analyze strength. The results shows the maximal stress value in original design is much less than the yield stress value, which make material wasted. So it is necessary to optimize structure of rump pan. Then, the model will be modified in the MSC.Patran so as to the next topology optimization. The model is submitted to Nastran-Optishape to access the topology optimization results. We find that the maximal stress value in rump pan doesn't still approaches its breaking point. Therefore this design makes material sufficient used, the weigh of rump pan effectively lightened. At the same time, the stress distribution is more reasonable.
