In this paper, the design of motor protection system of a smart motor controller is discussed. On the base of analyzing various fault of the motor by symmetrical component method. Dividing motor fault into two kinds: symmetrical wrong and anisomerous fault.Point out the shortage of tradition protection method and make use of the features and differences of positive sequence, negative sequence, zero sequence fault components to provide a reliable protection for motor devices.Data acquisition scheme is chosen by sampling the Alternating Current signal. Through comparing two different arithmetic. We can conclude that Fourier's arithmetic is better in the condition of motor fault or wave aberration.The designs of software adopt modularization. Modularization program is more effective. C and assemble language are used for writing program. That provides best software design scheme and give attention to speed and efficiency of program running.In addition, to insure motor protection equipment work reliably, the system considers the ability of anti-jamming from software and hardware.
